About MMWA
Rooted in Mahakali area of Andheri East, Mumbai, MMWA
was founded with a shared purpose: to create a warm,
vibrant home-away-from-home for Bengali families living
in and around the neighborhood. Led entirely by an
all-women executive committee, our association blends
deep cultural preservation with purposeful social welfare.
From bringing the rhythmic beat of the dhak and traditional
festivity to Mumbai streets, to supporting young girls
through education and community outreach, MMWA stands as a
testament to female leadership and collective cultural pride.
The Mahakali area has developed as a large domesticated area
in the western suburb of Mumbai. Its demography is diverse,
starting from middle class to upper middle-class population
as also some people controlling MSME businesses. The area is
fully encompassed by industries and corporate offices, a
large number of them being located in the MIDC (Andheri East)
and SEEPZ. Celebration of Durga Puja is growing every year
in Mumbai. Our Puja Pandal being located right on the arterial
Mahakali Caves Road, the footfall expected in the MMWA pandal
will be around 5000 to 6000 each day. A large portion of this
crowd consists of young corporate professionals working across
technology, management, and finance sectors and are in the mid
to high income group.
MMWA also has a plan to initiate social initiatives to encourage
underprivileged, specifically girl children, from the neighbouring
areas pursue their education by motivating them and by providing
financial help as needed.
We sincerely hope to have you as our guest in the pandal of
MMWA during the Durga Puja.
